The Senseair S8-4BP is a compact CO₂ sensor module designed for battery-powered applications, serving as a CO₂ safety switch when integrated into kerosene heaters. Utilizing advanced non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) gas sensing technology, the sensor delivers reliable and precise CO₂ detection while ensuring low power consumption.

The S8-4BP measures ambient CO₂ levels at intervals of 105 seconds when concentrations are below 6500 ppm and 30 seconds for levels above 6500 ppm. It triggers an alarm when CO₂ exceeds 8500 ppm and provides additional warnings for ventilation at 7500 ppm and low battery at 5.3V ±5%. A diagnostic routine activates a fault alarm if any malfunction is detected, while an alarm filter minimizes false alarms caused by brief disturbances.

The S8-4BP also comes in a variation with lower thresholds.

Sensor is designed to measure with best accuracy in the range 7000–9000ppm, which is specified in the table accuracy. Nevertheless, exposure to concentrations below 400ppm may result in incorrect operation of ABC algorithm and shall be avoided.
Accuracy is specified over operating range 5–30 °C, 0–80% RH.
